Item works right out of the box. Load the drivers first, then plug it in. That's all there is to it. We use in conjunction with Microsoft Map Point 2009 and the software easily identified the GP. Made several road trips and it accurately depicted our location, speed and direction. We would recommend this receiver to anyone who already has mapping software and wants a reliable GPS receiver.

Use this device with a netbook, and some good mapping software, then you've got a sweet navigation tool. Took it for a test run in our car, with a HP netbook, Microsoft Streets & Trips; and it worked perfectly. After about a minute of sat acquisition time we were up and running. Everything looked spot on with the maps and we were surprised at how accurate the Speedometer reading was. This is a serious device, and great if you'd like to do some DIY projects, or set up a custom in car nav solution on the cheap. Installation was pretty painless, just like any other peripheral (driver disc included).

We have used this receiver for a few days now, and we are quite impressed by how well it works. To make it easy to understand, let us mention that the receiver will get a lock within a few seconds even inside my house, and it will also get a very fast lock inside our garage, which is located at the ground level of a 3 floor apartment building. Also, once it gets a lock, it never drops it. The construction feels extremely solid. It has a magnetized base so that it can be put on the roof of a car.

Some people have complained about the cable being too short. We do not think that's a problem, due to the fact that you basically do not need to put this receiver anywhere specifically.

We used many bluetooth GPS units before because we develop aviater equipment. We've also used many survey grade recievers that cost $70K. This one is by far the best cheap hand-held unit we've used. Battery lasts for ages and the satellite acquisition is really fast compared to other chipsets. We left it sitting outside for a week once, still turned on, and due to the power save mode it still worked when we remembered about it a week later and reconnected.

Ran for another 8 hours or so before it finally ran out of juice. It will even get satellites in a basement under a 2 story house. The fact that it even gets a signal is very impressive. Size-wise it is smaller than a deck of cards - about the size of a really small flip cell phone. Came with battery together, and one lengthwise across them endwise is the approximate size. Can't go wrong with this unit. It is standard bluetooth serial port profile (SPP slave) and streams NMEA data the moment you connect. The strings it supports are GGA,GSA,GSV,RMC.

The i-gotU GT-200 Bluetooth GPS Travel Logger GT-200 from Mobile Action is very easy to use.If you are not familiar with this type of geotagging product, it interfaces with any camera or mobile phone, so that the images that you snap can be tagged with the GPS longitude and latitude coordinates where they were taken. The i-gotU GT-200 goes a step farther in that it will allow you to upload your trips to a special free online server, create nifty little animated movies of your travels and share them with anyone.

First, we love the shape of the device.

it's small, and we are very impressed with how well it works. We tested it outside the house, hit the button, it acquired within 30 seconds, We put it in the breast pocket of a denim jacket, got on the motorcycle and rode to work, and stopped a few times to take pictures. When we got to work, we installed the software, downloaded the pics from the camera, hooked up the GPS, which downloads the track automatically, told the software where the pictures were, and in about 30 more seconds had the Googlemap showing the pictures, and the track was never more than about 6 feet off course.

The i-gotU module is a very small White plastic rectangle, with one button.

The Blue silicone skin is removable. There are two LEDs located on either side of the power button. One is Blue and one is Red. When the module is powered on, the Blue LED will blink every 15 or so seconds. If there is a GPS signal, the Red LED will also blink.One end has the proprietary USB connector and a lanyard attachment eyelet.

Operating this device is about as simple as it can be. Just hold down the only button for a couple of seconds till you see the Blue LED blink. Then go outside to allow it to get a GPS lock. You will know when you have a signal, when you see the Red LED blinking along with the Blue one. Most of the time, this only requires a minute or so. Now all you have to do is carry the i-gotU along with you, while snapping pictures with a camera that has the correct time set.When you’re finished for the day, load up the included software on a Windows PC and launch it.

The Trip software has an easy user friendly interface. Clicking the Import GPS Track button in the upper Left corner will guide you through the steps of retrieving info off the i-gotU module. Click on screenshots for full size images.

You will be prompted to connect the i-gotU to your PC with the included USB cable. Once you do, it will automatically start downloading the info.

The software will automatically select multiple trips for that day. If you want to combine them all together, click Next, otherwise, you can uncheck the trips you don’t want to include.

You then have the option of three different trip styles. More about that in a bit.

The next step is to import the images that you took while the i-gotU was powered on. The images that were taken during the same time that the module powered was on and receiving a GPS signal, will have a G next to them.

After the images are imported, your trip will be shown using Google Maps, complete with start and end points. Depending on the style that you selected, imported images will show up on the sidebar. If you combined multiple trips into one, each leg of the trip will be a different color.
